Power plant Straszyn

The hydroelectric power plant was established to prevent spring floods, during which the waters of Radunia threatened the area in the foreground of Gdańsk forts. It was put into operation in 1910 and is still working today. The power plant complex includes: a gym, two outflow canals, a huge weir with a large cascade, several historic worker buildings and an artificial water reservoir called Goszyński or Straszyński Lake. Unfortunately, you can't swim there. The power plant due to its characteristic shape was called "Water Castle" and is one of six power plants forming a unique complex of "Radunia River cascades". The power plant can be visited from Monday to Friday at 7.00 and 14.00. Any inquiries regarding the sightseeing should be sent to the e-mail address: ew.zwiedzanie@energa.pl at least 7 days in advance. The facility is located in the community of Pruszcz Gdański.
